Long before it housed Virginia's most promising artists, this building was an operational torpedo factory producing munitions around the clock during World War II. One of these torpedoes is even displayed on-site in the main hall.
The Torpedo Factory Art Center is open daily except for certain holidays, 10:00 a.m. – 6:00 p.m. (9:00 p.m. on Thursdays), and admission is always free. Gallery and studio hours may vary, though artists are required to maintain a number of open studio hours. If you wish to see a particular artist, call them directly to get his or her studio times.
